Candidates have completed two-year Formation for Ministry program

Ogdensburg - Bishop Terry R. LaValley will preside at the Lay Ministers Commissioning Ceremony June 30 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 3 p.m.

During the ceremony, he will commission 43 lay ministers who have completed the diocesan Formation for Ministry program in Ogdensburg, Malone or Ticonderoga.

The Formation for Ministry program is designed to help candidates acquire the necessary skills to contribute effectively to parish ministry and assist the pastor with the work of the parish.

Over the past two years, the candidates have completed course work in scripture, Christology, spirituality, church, communications, sacraments and social justice.

Additionally, candidates are required to attend six workshops and two retreats over the two year period of the program.
