June 5, 2013 Because of the devastating storms that have caused destruction, injury and death in Oklahoma, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the USCCB, has asked Bishop LaValley to encourage parishes of the Diocese of Ogdensburg to take up a special collection during June or the early part of July to assist recovery efforts in Oklahoma. Accordingly, Bishop LaValley is asking every parish to contribute to these recovery efforts by contributing parish funds or taking up a special collection at weekend Masses on a weekend selected by the pastor. Once the collection has taken place, pastors will send the donations sent directly to Catholic Charities, 6866 State Hwy 37, Ogdensburg, New York 13669. Catholic Charities will distribute the funds through appropriate channels to the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City to assist in the relief efforts. |
