July 30, 2014 Rochester native Stephen Tartaglia, who most recently served as principal of St. Francis-St. Stephen School in Geneva, N.Y., has been hired to serve as diocesan director of Family Life Ministry. He succeeds Deacon Gary and Gayle Frank who retired from the position in December, 2013. Tartaglia earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego and also studied at Wadhams Hall in Ogdensburg and St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore. Tartaglia began his career in Catholic education as a teacher at McQuaid Jesuit High School and at Siena Catholic Academy both in Rochester. He completed a master’s degree in educational administration at the University of Rochester and began working as a vice-principal at All Saints Catholic Academy in Gates, NY. Tartaglia went on to become director of pupil personnel services, and director of marketing and development at Seton Catholic Central in Plattsburgh, and later as assistant principal in Sacred Heart School in Glyndon, Maryland, before taking the position in Geneva. He will begin work for the Ogdensburg diocese in August. Tartaglia and his wife Christina are the parents of five children. In his free time he enjoys playing chess, playing the piano, reading and working on computers. |
