Sept. 17, 2014 Ogdensburg – Bishop Terry R. LaValley will preside at the annual diocesan Religious Jubilee Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The jubilee will mark the opening of the diocesan observance of the Year of Consecrated Life established by Pope Francis. The pope will open the international observance on the first Sunday of Advent 2014 and close it on the World Day of Consecrated Life Feb. 2, 2016. Among the eight jubilarians to be honored Oct. 12 is Sister Agnes Racette, a Sister of Charity of St. Louis, who is observing her 75th year of religious life. A native of Redford, Sister Agnes now lives at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Seven Sisters of St. Joseph are also observing significant anniversaries in 2014. Sister Mary Christine Taylor, celebrating 65 years of religious life, continues to minister on the Akwesasne Reservation as she has for 42 years. Sister James Marie Kelly, a 60 year jubilarian, serves as a junior high religion teacher at Immaculate Heart Central School in Watertown. Five more Sisters of St. Joseph are celebrating 50 years of religious life: Complete biographies of the jubilarians will appear in upcoming issues of the North Country Catholic. A reception in the Brzana Hall will follow the Jubilee Mass.
