Nov. 29, 2017

Two groups of young people are presenting Advent programs depicting the birth  of Jesus:

IHC Mystery Players
The Mystery Players of Immaculate Heart Central School in Watertown offer prayerful meditations on the Nativity, through the use of acting, narration, music, and lighting.

The first performance took place Sunday at Summit Village.

Upcoming presentations are:
•Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at Notre Dame Church, Ogdensburg
•Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. at St. James Church, Gouverneur
•Dec. 17 at 7:15 p.m at Holy Family Church, Watertown

All events are open to the public with free admission.

Franciscan Mystery Players
“The Birth of Jesus, A Franciscan Christmas,” will be presented by St. Mary’s (Clayton) and St. John’s (LaFargeville) Franciscan Mystery Players Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Clayton.

Based on St. Francis’ recreation of the Nativity at Greccio, Italy, over 800 years ago, this Christmas mystery play attempts to portray the events surrounding the Lord’s birth, as real as possible, from the birth to the slaughter of the innocents.

This presentation hopes to renew the real meaning of Christmas in such a way that its true message speaks to our hearts, the world we live in, and our daily lives.

A free-will offering will be accepted.
