Archives Catholic Charities receives grant to help flood victims

Plattsburgh - Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg has recently received a $10,000 grant from CC Flood VictimsCatholic Charities USA to assist the victims of flooding in Clinton County.  The flooding that occurred in January has affected over 130 families;70 families have been permanently displaced because of the damage the Underwood Estates Trailer Park. 

Deacon Patrick Donahue, diocesan director for Catholic Charities announced the partnership with Catholic Charities USA.  He noted that, in addition to the funding,  he was grateful “for the technical assistance provided by Catholic Charities USA and their willingness to serve as a resource to not only Catholic Charities but also the various agencies that have partnered and shared resources and expertise on behalf of those most affected by the flooding”.

Deacon Donahue recently toured the site with Kim Burgo of Catholic Charities USA; along with Deacon Mark Bennett of St Peter’s in Plattsburgh, Msgr. Dennis Duprey, dean of Clinton Deanery; and John Redden, Commissioner of Clinton County Social Services;

The Catholic Charities director has also participated in planning efforts and the work of the Clinton and Essex County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) which include disaster management, social services, Legal Aid, and Housing Authorities.
