Ogdensburg  - Darcy Fargo of Moira has accepted the position of communications director for the Diocese of Ogdensburg, including responsibilities as editor/general manager of the North Country Catholic. 

She will succeed Mary Lou Kilian who has worked from the North Country Catholic since 1978 as assistant editor, editor and then general manager of the diocesan newspaper.

Mrs. Kilian is retiring May 31.

In addition to her responsibilities with the NCC, Mrs. Fargo will assist Bishop Terry R. LaValley in advancing the mission of the  Diocese of Ogdensburg through strategic communications and media relations using print, audio, video and digital media.

She will oversee and coordinate the digital media currently in use by the diocese and devise a strategic plan to expand the use of digital media in the distribution of a unified message.

Mrs. Fargo currently works as employment manager for the University of Vermont Health Network at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

In this position she has produced an employee newsletter, recruited staff members, written policies for the human resource department and developed communication plans, among other responsibilities.

Previously, she worked as a senior employee management, communications and training specialist for Alcoa, Inc., in Massena.

She has also been news editor of the Malone Telegram, bureau chief for the Punxustawney Spirit and Jefferson County Neighbors weekly newspaper Punxustawney, Pennsylvania; and staff reporter for the Malone Telegram.
A 2002 graduate of Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y., Mrs. Fargo is a native of Bombay.

She and her husband, Adam, have been married for 13 years and are the parents of an 10-year-old son, Jacob.
They are parishioners of St. Mary’s Parish, Brushton.

Mrs. Fargo has created websites and has maintained social media presence for area Catholic parishes, is a member of the board of directors for Family's Choice of the North Country and a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Massena.
