Aug. 28, 2024 A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Eileen Coryea Mattoon on Aug. 14 at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Eileen, a resident of Malone passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family and beloved dog, Teddy, and aided by Hospice of the North Country. She was 93. Born on May 4, 1931, in Burke, NY she was the daughter of Wellington and Florence (Morin) Besaw. She was married to Deacon Ronald G. Coryea on June 12, 1952, in Notre Dame Church, Malone. He predeceased her on June 8, 1995. She was then married to Deacon George L. Mattoon on August 2, 1996 at Notre Dame Church. He predeceased her on November 9, 2009. Eileen graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, Malone. She was employed at Empsall’s, JC Penny, North Country Home Health Care as a home health aide. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and she volunteered at Notre Dame School and Parish and St. Vincent De Paul for over 30 years. She enjoyed her volunteer work but her true passion was raising her eight children and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her eight children, Daniel (Delores) Coryea of California, Deborah (Ron) Kaufmann of Malone, David (Janis) Coryea of California, Diana Grant of Malone, Andrew (Robin) Coryea of Florida, Joanne (Danny) Dennis of Ghent, NY, Anne (John) Reynolds of Malone, Michele (Bill) Bronner of Hammond, NY; step-children, David (Dawn) Mattoon, Nancy Mattoon, Linda (Tom) Tarka, Rose (Allan) Parker, Jill (Scott) Besaw; 37 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and one on the way ; siblings, Marilyn Donahue, Mary Debyah, Theresa Anthony, Frank Besaw and Donna Brownell; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was predeceased by her parents and twin sister, Irene DeCarr. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
